About Us

About Lifeline

Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury Sydney is one of 40 Lifeline centres across Australia. We are accredited by Lifeline Australia and are required to adhere to the national standards while operating under a local Board of Governance. We are also responsible for ensuring the decisions of the national Board are implemented at our centre at Gordon.

Our History

Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury Sydney commenced operation on 4 December 1967, in an old house in Hornsby kindly provided by Hornsby Council.

Over the course of the next twenty years, the organisation slowly but steadily grew, although right from the outset it was almost entirely reliant on volunteer effort.

Our Mission & Guiding Principles

Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury Sydney is a volunteer organisation that saves lives by providing vital services to the community every day of the year: counselling for personal and financial crises, (including problem gambling counselling and a bulk billed psychological service), support for the aged and frail, telephone crisis support and suicide crisis support.

Our Board of Directors

Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury Sydney is one of 14 NSW Lifeline centres accredited by Lifeline Australia and accountable to Lifeline Australia for the governance of its operations.

Our Geographical Area

Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury Sydney provides services to residents on Sydney’s north side – from Sydney Harbour right up to the Hawkesbury River, including the North Sydney, Lane Cove, Hunters Hill, Willoughby, Ryde, Ku-ring-gai and Hornsby local government areas.
