Why donations are so important to us

Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury Sydney is a not-for-profit organisation. The life-saving services we provide from our Gordon centre include Lifeline’s national 13 11 14 telephone crisis line, many different face-to-face psychological and financial counselling services, community aid, and a variety of support groups and psychological treatment programs.

Many people are surprised to learn that only a small part of the income needed to fund these operations, (in fact, less than 20%), derives from grants and Government sources. Consequently, the services we provide must be financed very largely through our own fundraising efforts, and – importantly – by donations from friends and supporters, business partners, groups and organisations.

Without this support, we would be unable to continue our life-saving work.

You can help us to help others

Every donation – no matter how large or small, no matter whether in monetary form or in services – helps us to save lives.

Where does the money go?

Even though the majority of our Telephone Crisis Supporters, Counsellors and Community Aid workers are volunteers, the ongoing cost of recruiting, training and supporting our various teams is significant. Your donation will make a difference. It will help us to continue to keep pace with the demand for our services, which is growing faster than ever. And it will help us to help more people in need of crisis support, as well as provide vital early-intervention support to more local individuals, couples and families before they reach the stage of being at serious risk.

Please consider supporting Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury Sydney with a financial donation, either one-off or ongoing.

A recurring donation of as little as $10 per month really will help us to maintain the vital life-saving services that we provide.

Donations of good-condition books, or books of particular historical/antiquarian interest, are the lifeblood of the various Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury Sydney giant book fairs and clearance sales, which collectively generate around 40% of our income.

Moving, downsizing, spring-cleaning or just creating space on your shelves?

If you have recyclable books, bric-a-brac or clothing in good, clean condition, please think of donating to your local Lifeline shops.

Every year we provide Christmas Hampers to families in our community who are in need.

Please help us ‘give a Christmas’ to those who are struggling by donating non-perishable goods.

After you have taken care of your loved ones, why not extend your gift to other Australians in need of care by leaving a bequest to Lifeline?

Donating a gift in your Will is one of the most effective ways you can be sure that the life-saving work of your local Lifeline will continue for years to come.
